28 exchange students start exchange studies at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

With the beginning of the spring semester, foreign students from Turkey, Spain, Portugal, France, Albania and Ukraine have started their studies at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA).

The students have come to ViA in the framework of Erasmus+ programme and ESME Sudria cooperation agreement, and they will study in different study programs, acquiring not only the selected study courses, but also the Latvian language and culture.

During the first days at the university, the students are introduced to the university, the city of Valmiera and its surroundings by participating in excursions, lectures and events organized by students. The foreign students together with their mentors – Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences students – will also participate in the activities organized by ViA Debate Club and the Improvisation Theater ViAGars, and will get to know each other in the evening of "Questions-Answers".

In total, 33 foreign exchange students will study at the university during the spring semester of the academic year 2018/2019, five of them continuing their exchange studies from the autumn semester.

During these years, ViA has established a wide cooperation network. It consists of 110 universities from 45 countries, and it continues to grow every year.

In Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, the most significant increase of foreign exchange students in recent years is from France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, etc.
