Four foreign lecturers begin work at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences
At the beginning of the new semester in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA), four foreign teachers have started their work in the framework of the project “Development of the academic personnel and human resources at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences”.
In order to improve the international experience and promote its development, Adams Pawlicz from Poland (Tourism and Recreation study field), Adewunmi Obafemi Ogunbase from Finland (Information Technology study field), Andra Siibak from Estonia (Communication and Public Relations study field) and Giuseppina Cardia from Malta (Business Administration study field) will be teaching at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences until June 30, 2019. All lecturers will be involved in the academic and scientific work of ViA both in the development and teaching of study courses, and in strengthening the international cooperation by participating in the content development of joint study programmes.
The main project activities include training courses for the academic staff in the areas of strategic specialization - academic staff leadership, collaboration with industry, and modern understanding of digital age challenges, training courses for the academic staff in professional English, academic staff traineeship in companies, as well as the involvement of foreign lecturers and doctoral students in academic work.
The aim of the project “Development of the academic personnel and human resources at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences” is to strengthen the academic personnel of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in strategic specialization areas. The project plans the development of human resources by improving competences in professional English, cooperation competence with the industry, academic staff leadership, modern understanding of the challenges of the digital age, and developing professional experience in the industrial environment in accordance with the strategy of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences by promoting the sustainable development of the knowledge society at regional and national level, providing the private and public sector with high-level professionals, as well as conducting research to address societal challenges.
The implementation of the project will increase the English language competence of the academic staff for study and scientific purposes, professional competences, competences for the use of leadership and digital technologies to raise the quality of studies, and will create new jobs by attracting high-quality academic staff.
The project is implemented with the support of the European Social Fund in the period from November 6, 2018, to May 31, 2021, project No. 22.214.171.124/18/A/012.
