Societal Security and Safety: Specialised Master's Degrees at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences
Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) is located in Northern Europe and offers internationally-oriented Master’s degrees and summer school programmes in English. One of the specialisation areas of its study offer at a master-level is societal safety and security in terms of media, communication, information and cyberspace security.
The programmes offered within this study area cover both, Social Sciences and Information Technologies: MSc Media and Information Literacy, MSc Strategic Communication and Governance, MSc Cybersecurity Engineering.
All master's degrees at ViA require a minimum of 1.5 years of study and admission requirements include evidence of English competence, Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field and a motivation letter or a proposal for a master's thesis.
To accommodate international students, the programmes combine several intensive executive-education weeks in Latvia as well as remote learning through online seminars and exercises. Industry internships with the university's partners or at student-determined organisations/businesses are an integral part of the programmes.
