Objectives and Description: The programme "Re-adapt the ruin" focuses on revitalizing abandoned and vacant urban spaces by exploring innovative engineering, architectural, and urban planning approaches. Participants will collaboratively design practical solutions aimed at transforming these spaces into socially beneficial and economically viable community assets, aligned with the European vision of a sustainable and inclusive social economy.
Added value: Practical and technical knowledge of adaptive reuse, sustainable materials and technologies, inclusive urban regeneration, and participative and community-oriented design solutions.
Competencies gained: · Ability to identify and address the challenges of vacant urban spaces · Skills in adaptive reuse and sustainable building technologies · Proficiency in collaborative, multidisciplinary project development · Enhanced understanding of social and proximity economy principles in urban contexts · Competence in integrating community needs and sustainability goals into technical solutions.
Methods and outcomes: Participants will engage in challenge-based learning through intensive group workshops, site analysis, and collaborative project development. Outcomes will include comprehensive design proposals for selected vacant spaces, incorporating technical documentation, sustainable building techniques, and social impact strategies, as well as a small physical intervention in a selected location in Limbaži. The programme will culminate in group presentations, showcasing innovative approaches to urban revitalization.

Virtual Component Description: Preparatory online module involving introductory webinars, collaborative platform setup (most likely MS Teams), preliminary research, and initial design preparation tasks.
