EURAXESS Latvia Contact Point Network was established in Latvia in September 2018.

The main goal of the EURAXESS Latvia Contact Point Network is to provide information and consultations to foreign scientists about the scientific career opportunities in Latvia, as well as practical support to those who are currently on a mobility and their family members who wanting to work in Latvia. In addition, EURAXESS Latvia Contact Point network provides information and contacts for receiving aid abroad – in Europe and worldwide, to those scientists, who plan to go on a mobility abroad.

EUROAXESS is one of the initiatives by the European Research Area, which aims to promote international and interdisciplinary scientific mobilities in Europe and third countries as well as to support an open employment market for scientists.

To achieve the goal of the initiative, European Commission in collaboration with the member states of European Union and partners in third countries (North America, Latin America and Caribbean, South East Asia, India, China, Japan and South Korea) has created the EURAXESS Network and ensures its proper functioning.

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is one of the network members, other higher education institutions in Latvia include: University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, University of Daugavpils, Riga Stradins University, Latvian Academy of Culture, J. Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Latvian Maritime Academy, Rezekne Academy of Technology, private education institutions - "RISEBA" University of Business, Arts and Technology", Business School "Turība", Latvian Christian Academy, Information Systems Management Institute, University College of Economics and Culture, Riga Graduate School of Law  and scientific institutions - Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Center, Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis, Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, foundation "Institute of Environmental Solutions".
